BRIEF DESCRIPTION: On March 26, 2003, the American 173rd Airborne Brigade, flying from their base in Italy, parachuted 1000 paratroopers into Northern Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. This was the largest combat parachute operation since WWII. Here, a brave soldier of the Brigade stands with his rifle at the ready to face the enemy in the "War on Terror". He guards against insurgents and Al Qaeida operatives after the ousting of Saddam Hussein and the Liberation of Iraq.
